Party Time and Free Food!

Time to bust out the party hats and streamers - my birthday is this weekend!  The last couple of years I have been signing up online for restaurant e-club birthday programs and during the month of May I get quite a few emails offering a free birthday meal or treat.  Free food?  Count me in!  Here's a list of a few of my favorites.  If you click on the restaurant it will take you directly to the e-club page so you can sign up!

Loving My New Bag!

Last week my blog friend Alisa posted this bag she made for her mom's Netbook and I immediately went head over heels over the fabric and design.  I don't think it gets much better than Hunky Dory fabric accented with a little Amy Butler.  I've been meaning to buy a case for my Netbook but everything out there is so blah and boring.  I knew this bag would be perfect!  Alisa was so kind and made a custom bag for me.  I picked it up this morning (we live within 10 miles of each other - small world!) and the bag is everything I was hoping for and more!  The sides are fully padded with fleece interfacing and there is a fabric covered board on the bottom to keep my computer safe.  Oh, and it matches my Netbook perfectly!!  I will be toting my computer in style :)

Seasonal Change

Remember these Easter egg topiaries?  It made me sad to think I wouldn't see those cute little moss-filled pots until next Easter. 

So... out with the eggs and in with some cute pom pom sticks!

 

    

I had a few extra pom pom sticks from when I made these topiaries.

So all I did was pull out the Easter egg picks and stick in the new topiary tops.  Super easy!

Memo Boards

I found a bulletin board and white erase board at the local thrift store for super cheap and decided to jazz them up a bit.  I've been on the lookout for frames that had enough depth to hold the thick boards.  I finally found a couple.

I removed the lovely pictures from the frames.

Gave the frames a couple coats of black spray paint.

Then I removed the plastic edging from the boards.

Measured and cut boards to frame size.

Once dry, I placed the boards inside of frames and secured them in place with the tacks.

And the finished product...



Now I just need to find a place to hang them!
Here's another one that my dad helped me make years ago.  It's in the laundry room right now but used to hang on the refrigerator since we added magnets to the back.

Lovely Flowers

I am thoroughly enjoying my favorite season!  Seeing the perennials make their lovely appearance and picking out new annuals to plant is pure bliss to me.  Everything is so green and lush from all the rain we have received the last couple of weeks.  Take a look...

My Caprese Garden

That's what I'm calling my garden this year.  Other than the volunteer chives and parsley from the previous season, my garden consists of tomatoes and basil.  Last summer I went all out trying to grow a little bit of everything.  Since I'm somewhat limited on space, I feel growing my own jalapenos and green peppers just isn't worth it.

 

Oh, yes, we will be eating a lot of caprese salads this summer!  Mmmm...
