I am such a sentimental person. There are several "memory boxes" around our house that are full of notes, menus, ticket stubs, maps, cards... you name it and it's probably in there. I love the memories that are brought back to mind when looking through everything. Since I rarely see all these special items, I decided to frame a few things so I can look at them everyday. I'm in the process of revamping our computer room and the sentimental artwork adds the perfect touch.
Here are the two pieces I chose for the project. A coffee sleeve from The Coffee Shop in Gilbert, AZ. We loved relaxing on their beautiful patio and munching on their amazing pastries when we lived in Arizona. Definitely a happy memory. The other piece is a business card from a cute little cafe we visited in Hawaii.
I used some inexpensive frames that I spray painted black.
I thought about using scrapbook paper for the background but decided it was too busy looking. I just wanted a nice white background. I looked around and found a leftover box from Christmas. The base made the perfect background - nice and sturdy.
I taped the items on the white cardboard then placed them under the glass.
I set The Coffee Shop art next to a photo collage I made of the cafe.
What an easy project that's filled with wonderful memories!

Very cool. I love sentimental anything.
I love this! One of my biggest decorating challenges is I want stuff to look good AND be meaningful. I'm definitely going to start collecting things like this...
I love this idea Emily. I am the same way, I still have the first card my husband ever gave me. I still even have my pregnancy tests in a baggie LOL! Those look so cute framed and displayed, great idea!
OH
P.S. not sure if you know about Monday January 24th... or not, the pet party...I really want to meet Stan the man.
I LOVE this! I also like to frame meaningful things. In addition to being sentimental, I think your artwork is more interesting than something store-bought as well.

What a really great idea! Love how they look. I find neat business cards, etc sometimes and they would make great art.
These are so great Emily!! I love the way they turned out - the white backing and black frames really set them off. Super cute!

What a great way to display your memories - I bet it's heartwarming to be reminded every time you see them. They look wonderful!
Well, Emily this may make me rethink throwing stuff away. I don't keep anything. Those turned out so cute. Thanks for sharing at the party.
Ingenious. I want to head out to our local coffee hub first thing tomorrow morning so I can make one of our own.

Such a great idea! I love how they turned out. I've got boxes and boxes too but I'm not sure if any of it is cute enough to frame.
Very cute!
Now where is this coffee shop? I must go there and sit and sip for you. Or come over, we'll meet for coffee.
I am sentimental too and I like the idea of framing little mementos like you did here.
Great idea!
Oh, I have a box full of those little sentimental items...actually I have several boxes! :-) This was such a great idea and I thought it was especially clever of you to use the gift box as your background. Thanks for sharing this at the party!
